Hunting With a Side By Side
Hunting with a Side By Side
Your side by side can take you many places and help you with many different tasks, but one of the most exciting ways to enjoy it is to take it hunting. Not only will it add a little thrill to your day out, but you’ll also get lots of utility perks out of it. Just stop by Peak Honda World in Littleton, Colorado, and let one of our staff show you how a UTV can help you.
Getting Prepared
A good plan is an essential first step, before you even pull the side by side out of the garage. This includes knowing where you’re going and knowing how long you’ll be there. Let someone back home know your plans, so if you get stuck out there for any reason, there’s someone who knows where to find you.
Before you head out, give your side by side a thorough inspection. While we feel confident that any model we sell you will run smoothly and efficiently, they’re not impervious to technical problems. It’s best to catch a compromised tire or bad oil before you head out so you can address it at home.
Bringing the Right Gear
The right gear is going to make or break your trip. Of course, this includes all your hunting supplies, like your weapons and cleaning gear. You might also want to bring along some basic survival gear, just in case. Extra food and water can’t hurt and a GPS will probably be helpful, if only in emergency situations. Lastly, you’ll always want to bring the right safety gear with you, including helmet, riding clothes, and high-vis gear so other hunters can see you.
Tips for the Field
When you’re out in the field, you’ll want to know the laws of the land you’re on and follow them to the best of your ability. For example, there are probably restrictions on where you can hunt, depending on how close to a populated area you get. You’ll also want to ensure you’re on public land, or get permission from the owner if you’re on private land.
It also goes without saying that you should be courteous and respectful to your fellow hunters. Only use your side-by-side to access a particular location, but never use it to chase down game (note: it’s illegal to fire a weapon from your UTV). Keep hunting fun for everyone and respect everyone’s right to enjoy the sport.
Another great way to make your next hunting trip more enjoyable is to get a specially designed side-by-side, one that’s designed specifically for the sport. This includes things like extra storage and a camo paint finish. If you’d like to check out some of these machines, then stop by Peak Honda World and let one of our experienced staff give you the complete tour. We proudly serve Denver and Aurora, Colorado.
